Questions we get asked about smart heating controls.

Will a smart thermostat work with my boiler?
Almost certainly. Every combi and system boiler made in the last fifteen years is compatible with at least Hive, Nest, and Tado. Older regular boilers with a hot water cylinder need a slightly different setup but still work. Send us your boiler make and model and we'll confirm.
How much does a Hive or Nest installation cost in Aberdeen?
If you supply the kit, the fitting and app set-up is a fixed price. If you want us to supply the kit too, we quote both together. Tell us which system you're after and we'll quote on the phone.
Can I fit it myself?
You can fit a thermostat physically, but the wiring to the boiler needs to be done correctly, and you need to know what you're doing with the boiler's call-for-heat and hot water signals. A bad install means the boiler doesn't run when it should. We'd rather you ring us.
Will smart heating actually save me money?
If you use it properly, yes — typically 10 to 25 per cent on heating bills, mostly from geofencing (heating off when nobody is home) and smarter schedules. Just buying the kit doesn't save anything; using it does.
What's the difference between Hive, Nest, and Tado?
Hive is the simplest and cheapest to run. Nest learns your patterns automatically. Tado does the best job of room-by-room control with smart TRVs. We'll talk you through which suits your home before you spend any money.
Can you set up zones for different rooms?
Yes — either with smart TRVs (Tado and Drayton Wiser do this well) or with motorised valves for separate heating circuits. The right approach depends on the existing system.
